Project SUM

The Human Digital Systems group started recently a new project: SUM – Observing and Understanding human Motion Dynamics.

This new project, funded by FCT, is leaded by the University of Minho and counts with the participation of the Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, University of Coimbra, and the INESC/Porto. This project has two major goals for this proposed project:

1) to further explore WiFi technology as a proxy to capture data about the human spatial behaviour;

2) to use that data to detect patterns in the way people move around in space and to find how movement correlates with the characteristics of the space.

The SUM project runs from January 2011 until the end of 2012.
